New Morning Mercies

(Art from Laurel Mercantile by Adam Trest)

Have you noticed it? There seems to be developing an even greater contrast between the the way of the world and the way of the Word.

For me it boils down to one truth. “God’s mercies are new every morning.” Lamentations 31:21-24

That’s the life of a follower of Christ, none of us perfect, all of us openly admitting to our fallibility, and trusting in the Perfect One to forgive us.

When we fail, He dusts us off, sets us on our feet, and helps us start new again tomorrow with fresh mercies. He even strengthens us to face the next temptation with victory when we pray and seek Him.

The new way of the world is a trying to impose on society a self-righteousness that is unforgiving, intolerant of mistakes, and presents ever changing tyranny in its demands and expectations. We never measure up and if they decide they don’t like us, they’ll erase us.

Never in my life have I been so thankful to be in God’s family and to recognize what a gift to live in His forgiveness, freedom, and firm foundation that He loved me while I was yet a sinner and won’t give up on me.

As Christians we have a great opportunity in this generation to invite weary souls into our family, the family of God, by highlighting this peace giving truth.

“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the Lord’s great love for us, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! Therefore I will say to myself, “The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for Him.” Lamentations 3:21-24

Every morning He meets me, pulls up a spiritual chair next to mine and presents new mercies to face the day He’s given me. He is so faithful! Trust Jesus today.
