I keep a few acorns in my desk from a student in my first PreK class. It seemed she brought me a pocketful everyday that year.
These remind me that great things come from small beginnings. “Mighty oaks from little acorns grow.”
My students and my children will not be mighty overnight, but given the light of God’s word, faithfully pointing them to the Living Water, and nourishing them with His love, metaphorically they will grow from acorn, to shoot, to sapling, to small tree, to large oak, to mighty oak as each season comes and goes. That is the Father’s heart for His creation.
I have faith in God to grow the seeds that have been planted in their hearts and I get the blessing of witnessing the growth of students and my children each week in every stage of the “forest.”
“So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3
