Advent Study: Be Watchful

“Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.” Revelation 3:2-3

Be Watchful

In the times we are living we need to keep a clear mind watching for the signs of the times, not so we can be fearful, but so we can be faithful. Just as symptoms in our bodies a signal to us that we need to get medical attention, so are the symptoms of a degrading society a signal that we should have an urgency to share the truth of the gospel to those who need an eternal cure.

When we see things that disturb us in the world, instead of fearing, let’s voice those concerns to God trusting that He will work in those situations. When we seek Him for clarity on how to respond, He will be faithful to show us how to do His will.

Be careful who you allow to be a voice in your life. There are so many deceptive messages brewing daily. Always go back to the word and to prayer for wisdom. Be leery of the lingo that is being introduced to us like “unlearning,” “essential/non-essential,” “rejection of authority, “and practices that have their roots in the occult yet are marketed for Christian consumption, etc.

Think of the governments in history who tried to “re-educate” their populations through propaganda and worse. Some of the people on your social media feeds and media may be furthering this type of agenda.

Remember, you will know them by their fruit. Have they lied in the past and not admitted to it? Those are the sources we need to reject.

We need to look to the Bible, God’s word, to know how to walk in truth “For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.” Psalm 33:4 “The word of the Lord endureth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:25

Look up,
Emily
