Advent Study: Wait Patiently

So far in this study we have been learning to look to God in the midst of fearful times, to ask Him for the wisdom we need to discern what is going on around us, and to let the symptoms we see in our society fuel our passion to share His light and truth.

Wait Patiently

I believe we are to look at the times we are living in as “gap time.” When we look around and see the signs of the times, yet Jesus hasn’t returned, we know that today is another opportunity to share Jesus with someone who may not know.

It is tempting to get disillusioned when we put our hope in man or government to solve our problems, but when we look at the world through the lens of scripture we can see that there is always time to repent after a warning of judgment is given.

We must be patient as we wait on the return of Christ and be found faithful when he does return not to backslide with the world, but to be set apart becoming more like Jesus day by day. We can only do that through the power of the Holy Spirit at work within us.

When the world stands firm it looks a lot like a hissy fit, but when a Christian stands firm it looks like rejoicing in the Lord, being gentle with our speech, not worrying but praying, being thankful, being peaceful, and focusing our thoughts on uplifting things (See Philippians 4).

Look up,
Emily
