Do you want to be joyful?

Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the Lord.
Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil,
and they walk only in his paths.
You have charged us
    to keep your commandments carefully.
Oh, that my actions would consistently
    reflect your decrees!
Then I will not be ashamed
when I compare my life with your commands.
As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should!
I will obey your decrees.
Please don’t give up on me!

Psalm 119:1-8

The first step to joy is living a life of integrity. How can we apply this portion of Psalm 119 to our lives and the lives of our families? The verse that stands out to me is

Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands.

Psalm 119:6

How often do we compare our lives with the ways of the world instead of the way of the LORD? When it seems all of culture has embraced and celebrated ideas that God calls sin, it would not be wise for us as Christians to follow and support that path. This verse tells us how not to be ashamed when we stand before God is for our actions to reflect His ways, not societal norms that disregard His Word.

If this post has been a blessing to you, I’d love it if you’d share with a friend who may need some encouragement in their faith today.

Thanks!
